JTBC “Your Song” to premiere featuring Park Hyo-shin on January 17

JTBC’s new TV music program “Your Song” has been to hit the airwaves on Jan. 17 at 11 p.m., featuring Park Hyo-shin as the first guest. 

The four-episode program follows the composer-director Jung Jae-il as he meets with multiple artists, talking about some of the most beloved songs in K-pop history.

The poster of “Your Song” released Monday lists up the lineup of the artists Jung will meet: ballad singer Park Hyo-shin, Lee Juck, IU, Jung Hoon-hee and actress Kim Go-eun. Each guests’ black-and-white photos on the poster show them singing rather earnestly.

“Your Song,” which will air every Thursday for four weeks, will kick off with Park Hyo-shin being Jung’s first guest. Park and Jung worked together to make some beloved songs including “Wildflower” released in 2014, “Sound of Winter” and “The Day” in 2018.

Musical “The Man Who Laughs” and Park Hyo Shin wins “2018 Stagetalk Audience Choice Awards”

Marking their 5th anniversary this year, the SACA is the only theater and musical awards in Korea where the final winner is decided by the pure choice of audience.

The final winners of “2018 Stagetalk Audience Choice Awards”, where the audience chooses the best musicals and actors in 2018 are already here.
“The Man Who Laughs”, “Frankenstein”, “Matilda”, “The Last Kiss” topped in musical categories, while “Al & Jay” and “Amadeus” are the big winners in play stage categories.

Also, the top performers of the 2018 SACA were Jung Sun Ah, Park Hyo Shin, Jeon Mi Do and Yoon So Ho respectively in the leading musical category.

The 2018 SACA completed its candidate research from Nov. 15 to 21 on the Stage Talk website(www.stagetalk.co.kr) and conducted the survey from Nov. 30 to Dec 10. The 2018 SACA main survey attracted 7,838 viewers, the largest number ever, to decide on the best plays, musical pieces and actors of the year in a total of 19 categories.

Best Actor in Musical – Jeong Seon Ah, Park Hyo Shin

Following the 2016 SACA, actress Jeong Seon Ah has won the Best Actress Award again. She left a deep impression with her outstanding singing and stable performance in the first Russian musical “Anna Karenina” and Josianna in “The Man Who Laughs” in Korea.

Her partner on stage Park Hyo Shin won the Best Actor Award 2018 SACA for his performance as Gwynplane in musical “The Man Who Laughs”.

After making a his musical debut “Elizabeth” in 2013, Park Hyo Shin later established himself as a musical actor through “Mozart!” and “Phantom”.

2018 SACA in Best Creative Musical premiere

Based on a novel of the same name by French maestro Victor Hugo, the musical “The Man Who Laughs” has been selected as the premiere of the 2018 SACA’s best creative musical. “The Man Who Laughs” is the second major theater creative piece by EMK Musical Company since the musical “Matahari” in 2016. Robert Johansson, who directed “Elizabeth” and “Phantom”, participated in the script and production, and Frank Wildhorn, who is famous for “Jekyll and Hyde”, played the music. “The Man Who Laughs” reveals the ugly face of the English aristocracy in the 17th century, while shedding light on the dignity and equality of humans through the bizarre, torn-mouthed life of Gwynplane.

Musical “Frankenstein”, performed since its premiere in 2014, has been selected as the best creative musical reenactment of the 2018 SACA.

The honor of the premiere of the 2018 SACA Best Licensed Musical went to “Matilda”, the first non-English-speaking musical to be performed. “Matilda” is based on Roald’s Moon’s novel, which is considered one of the greatest children’s writers of the 20th century.

Musical “The Last Kiss” has been selected as the top licensed musical of 2018 SACA. “The Last Kiss” is based on the true story of Rudolph the Crown Prince of Habsburg and his lover Marie Vecera. It was premiered in Korea in 2012 under the title of “Prince Rudolph” and changed the title to “The Last Kiss”, starting with the third performance.
